Everyone has to have at least one type of math before graduating, and most students try to have three or four. We have a very complete math department offer- ing all stages of college prepara- tory math, including business and general math, beginners and ad- vanced algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. dh if The R.O.T.C. unit is an integral part of our school program. Our unit has been a credit to Lee by maintaining an honor rating and instilling in our students traits of character, leadership and dis- cipline. Capt. Samual T. Rhodes, the PlVlS8zT, is ably assisted by Sgts. Slayden, Lamb and Thomas. Sgt. Slayden is retiring this year after many contributive years at Lee.

They are: American History, World History, Journalism, Social Living, Problems of Democracy, and Geography. This department held a student election this year just a few days before the national election. We had our own Stevenson and Eisenhower, and were priviledged to choose between them. fWe chose Stevensonlj The social science department is especially designed for students who have varied interests in social issues, research, and public or social issues. The Commercial Department has as its objective the teaching of the fundamental principles of business to those students who plan to enter the business field. Courses are also offered to aid students in other areas of work. Subjects offered by -the commer- cial department are: shorthand, typing, office practice, and book- keeping. The Music Department spon- sors four choral groups, a band, and piano courses. Miss Herri- tage is the director of the Girls' Clee Club, Boys' Clee Club, Choir l and Choir ll. Mr. Matthiessen is the director of our band, and Miss Cainey is the piano teacher. Miss Cainey is also offering, for the first time at Lee, a music appreciation course.
