Lee is extremely proud of its teams because we have fine play- ers that show good sportsmanship and excellent school spirit. We may have lost a few games, but we have won a fine name for our school through our sportsmanship. The team loses little material by graduation this year and we are looking for a championship team next year. The girls' intramural sports program, sponsored by the Phys- ical Educational Department, in- cludes volleyball, basketball, and tennis. Miss Dean, Coach Weaver, Mrs. Peacock.

The English department is further divided into three branch- es of study: general English, business English, and journalism. JOHN WOODALL The English department has as its main purpose the teaching of practical every- day English and writing. This department also tries to broaden the student's mind in the fields of finer literature. Since each student is required to take English four years, this is considered one of the most important departments in high school. Our foreign language department is still in its infancy and, as yet, includes only two languages: Latin and Spanish. The language department sponsors the English Club, Latin Club, and Spanish Club to better acquaint the student with the finer points of these languages.
