More than seven hundred students are en- rolled in Typ ing I and II this term. Students are also enrolled in shorthand, secretarial prac- tice, general business, bookkeeping, business law and economics. Mrs. Ruth Hicks, chairman of the Business Department, aids in the operation of the de- partment with its modern equipment and its latest methods of instruction. Fifteen new elec- tric and forty-two new manual typewriters were purchased this year. Courses in history are intended to present a bal- anced perspective ofthe origin, economic, cultural, and political c ustoms of the peoples of the world. Emphasis is placed on imperialism, diplomatic alli- ances, political ideas and reformations. Economics courses stress money and banking, corporation fi na n ce, la b o r, public finance, and business cycles. Principles of American Government, the consti- tution on which our government is based, problems in American foreign relations, and party politics are dealt with in the study of government. Civics presents the students a basis for the funda- mentals of American Government and the structure of other world governments. Texas History enables the students to learn more of the exciting background of the Lone Star State.
