Courses in history are intended to present a bal- anced perspective ofthe origin, economic, cultural, and political c ustoms of the peoples of the world. Emphasis is placed on imperialism, diplomatic alli- ances, political ideas and reformations. Economics courses stress money and banking, corporation fi na n ce, la b o r, public finance, and business cycles. Principles of American Government, the consti- tution on which our government is based, problems in American foreign relations, and party politics are dealt with in the study of government. Civics presents the students a basis for the funda- mentals of American Government and the structure of other world governments. Texas History enables the students to learn more of the exciting background of the Lone Star State. More than seven hundred students are en- rolled in Typ ing I and II this term. Students are also enrolled in shorthand, secretarial prac- tice, general business, bookkeeping, business law and economics. Mrs. Ruth Hicks, chairman of the Business Department, aids in the operation of the de- partment with its modern equipment and its latest methods of instruction. Fifteen new elec- tric and forty-two new manual typewriters were purchased this year.
