This time the score was i6-7. Coach Jones' Generals shook halfback Louis Priester loose on a 93-yard touchdown run on the opening kickoff, but a leaky pass defense ruined chances for an undefeated season. After Priester's run, the Bears came charging back 70 yards for a touchdown. Undaunted, the Generals moved from deep in their own territory to the Bear 4-yard line. Howard Bozeman took the ball into the end zone, but the touchdown play was nullified. The Generals battled back until a Bobby Enslen pass fell into the hands of Wayne Wright, who ran it back to the Tuscaloosa 34. Late in the first half the Bears scored when Ronnie Wedgeworth ran 29 yards and then Kincaid threw a long touchdown pass to Tom Patton. Tuscaloosa's ol-yard punt rolled dead at the Lee two-yard line. After 2 Lee running plays failed, Paul Boschung tackled Lee's Enslen in the end zone for 2 points that gave the Bears a 9-point margin. The second half was scoreless as the Generals had their hands full holding the heavier Bears at bay. The loss was Lee's tenth in lO season's of prep competition. Tuscaloosa thus ioins Lanier as the only teams with more than one victory over the Generals. Priester Scores lee's Lone TD 151

Lee Generals charged back and rambled past Besse- mer's Purple Tigers 42-7. Larry Kimbell, after fumbling the opening kickoff momentarily, raced 80 yards up the middle of the field for the Tiger's only touchdown. Buford Smith kicked the extra point and Bessemer led 7-O. Lee regrouped quickly and took the kickoff 57 yards to paydirt. David Welch's tirst of five PAT boots tied the score at 7-all. The Leemen took the lead for good before the period ended when Enslen capped a 54-yard march with a l-yard dive off tackle. A Welch boot made it T4-7. Louis Priester's pass interception at the Bessemer 20 set up the third Lee score. Howard Bozeman took it in from the IO four plays later. Welch kicked true again, making the score Qi-7. The Redshirts broke it wide open in the third quarter with 2l markers. Priester zigzagged 20 yards on a fourth-and-six play for the first TD, Enslen passed 61 yards to Elbert Bell for one, and Ralph Hamn galloped 23 yards for the other just as the third quarter ended. Jerry Wills, a usual kickoff man, kicked his first extra point of the season after the last TD. Frederick spearheaded the Lee attack as he rushed lO5 yards in 9 carries. RANDY PARKER BUDDY BESHEARS THERON SPARKS Junior Center Junior Center Junior Center Bobby Enslen's pass to Joel Stevenson in the final period brought Robert E. Lee to life for a lo-7 victory over the Ramsay Rams. The Generals took advantage of a Ramsay fumble in the opening period. Kenneth Wood blocked a Ram punt and Wade Johnson recovered at the Ramsay lO. Three plays netted only 2 yards, so David Welch booted a 25-yard field goal for a 3-O General lead. Lee moved to the visitors' eleven early in the second quarter, but a tough Ramsay defense halted the drive. Johnson's fumble recovery gave Lee an opportunity early in the third period, but the Ram defense stiffened and took over on downs. John Shallhoop's pass to Tommy Yearout started the Rams rolling late in the third quarter. Yearout bulled to the 2 after a couple of plays failed to gain, and Skid Logan plunged over from the l. James Jackson's conversion made it 7-3 Ramsay, but the lead was short-lived. On first down Enslen fired to Stevenson, who scampered down the sideline for the TD. Welch's boot made it lO-7 Lee. The Generals failed to allow a first down after the kickoff and took over at the Ram 45. Gary Milton capped an ll-play drive with a dive from one yard out. Neither team threatened in the final four minutes. Enslen Goes Around End 152
