On the F00t'ball Field Nowhere was the new General spirit more apparent than at the football games. Although the team lost week after week they were never defeated. The players gave it their all and the fans responded with undying support. giving the games new meaning: Rebuilding fI1.l the state of the General football team for the past several years Ex. - With only 7 starting seniors, the pressure was great on inexperienced sophomores andjuniors. Win'ning 01.1 performing to the best of your ability Ex. - Despite their wonfloss record General players were winners by virtue of their dedication and persistence. H6me'com ing 111.1 a time to reminisce days gone by. celebrate the present and anticipate the future EX. l - School spirit which was already high was given an additional boost by Homecoming festivities that included a bonfire and the crowning ofa new queen. Erin McCormick. Ex. 2 - Players were given t-shirts saying Yes Lee Can. And Will however. the Sharpstown Apollos proved to be too tough an opponent.

Out'side the Class'room Despite limitations put on the student body by House Bill 72, extra-curricular activities not only did not falter, but attained a level of excellence not seen for many years: Char - is - mat' - ic Kay what the club leaders were in their attempts to inspire their followers Ex. - As new rules discouraged participation in extra- curricular activities, club presidents were chal- lenged to make their clubs seem both rewarding and appealing. Cre - a'tive Kay the new ideas various clubs used to promote participation and spirit Ex. 1 - Student Council sponsored a CleanLee campaign to maintain the recent campus improvements and give all students a sense of belonging through ac- tivity. Ex. 2 - When the Homecoming parade had to be cancelled, the parent's Booster Club and the Spirit Committee put together a bonfire to keep the General spirit lit. Ef- fect'ive fa.l the results of club activities Ex. 1 - Anchor Club's Fall toy drive proved to be timely for needy children at Hermann Hospital. Ex. 2 - Once again Key Club held a blood drive to supple- ment an always meager supply.
