German films and lectures by representatives from the German Consul- ate gave club members an insight into German history and customs. Authentic German foods were sampled at the November Wurstfest and the Janu- ary food-tasting party with other lan- guage clubs at Lee. At Christmas, the group learned Ger- man Christmas carols which they sang at Texas Children's Hospital. This activity, plus entertainment provided by the Ger- man Band, exposed members to German music. Springtime found the German Club pre- paring for the German play which was presented at Lee and at the Texas Associ- ation of German Students convention held in Austin, Texas. Various educational presentations, such as a slide preview from France and a speaker from the French restaurant, Foulard's, aided club members in their un- derstanding of French customs and lan- guage. Adding to their diverse activities, French Club members held two parties to cele- brate Bastille Day and Mardi Gras. They also sponsored a November faculty breakfast and a food-tasting party with other language clubs in January.
