Mr. Leroy Henderson, History Wiley College, B.A. Inspiring students in the realms of the past, present, and future - this is the goal which the history, government, and economics teachers at Lee strive to achieve. While influential speakers ap- prised economics classes of knowledge of such matters as insurance and taxes, oth- ers informed government classes of some of the many aspects of law. History teachers, meanwhile, sought to promote an interest in material other than that studied in the classroom by bringing to each student's attention television spe- cials and public exhibits pertaining to his- tory. Opportunities for each teacher to en- rich his knowledge of history and govern- ment were never lacking, inasmuch as each was encouraged to' attend sessions such as the Freedom Foundation Seminars. Lee's social science department, head- ed by Mr. Harris Butler, provided students with a wide range of courses, such as gov- ernment, economics, and world, Ameri- can, and English history. Ample explana- tion can be provided for the fact that many students graduated from Lee had the opportunity to gain a true and lasting knowledge of their country.
