U lVe 5l'Y of TGXUS, B-A- Mr. Howard Behrens, Physics University of Houston, M.Ed. To provide a basic background so that students may be fully prepared for the in- tense pressures which face each science student in college - this is the goal of each science teacher as he strives to in- spire even the least scientifically-minded student in the fields of physical science, biology, chemistry, physiology, oceanog- raphy, and physics. Field trips in oceanography provide an interesting activity as do the dissections of cats or pigs in physiology and maior- works biology. Students interested in chemistry are encouraged to enhance their knowledge by attending public semi- nars taking place throughout the year. A science club was organized at Lee this year so that interested students could discover and experience more specialized aspects of science. Headed by Mr. Howard Behrens, the science department continually tried to motivate the student's interest in science, of which a basic knowledge is almost es- sential in an increasingly technological society. Really, Bob, how do you ever expect to pass this course if you can't even light your own bunsen burn- er? Mrs. Hunter iokes with Bob Jungman as Debbie Weyel and Mike Serant agree. 21

Students Attain Foundations for College on themes and writers, the English depart- ment at Lee, headed by Mrs. Velma Bren- f' '1 Having adopted a new textbook based nan, continually strives to instill in students an appreciation of both writing and Iitera- f ture. In an attempt to explore the hidden messages and themes which writers try to -- convey, teachers encouraged sincere dis- cussion on the part of the students. As each teacher endeavored to provide students with a program that would enable them to excel not only in college, but also in everyday living, most students, having been instructed in the aspects of lit- I erature and grammar, are graduated from ialitzzf inglish Lee with a deeper cognizance of the Eng- ' ' ' lish language. 2' ' Q II ' I g.5 0 Q , i 0' Pg 90's'o' tj vo ,Q 0 'H o o .9 - . . -ff: fs 'o '.'0 9r0 'u : l I . - ,, : : 4- . ,'o 'i:v:':s01n g.g,'0,'e,'.- '4,'n,0, b ..o',nu , p:..:0q::,:,x - :.,:u.u.-2b:..:.,ua, l u nic, ,Q age ncy, 4 n o , o Q I Q o . .n,g0e,O.Q gl'o'9ooi,fs f N' v, us' 090: li 0 a ,B 0 5 Q , O o o I If K lunge e0vtoo. 0, es' 00.00.
