Concern lnspires Able Decisions Despite the many vexing problems which confronted Lee's administrators this year, partly as a result of the overcrowding of classrooms, Lee's principal, Mr. J. T. Shivers, still maintained his concern for this school and its students. By suggesting a fair criterion by which students should dress and act, Mr. Shivers displayed his interest in Lee's reputation. Such a concern, which also encouraged total participation in pep rallies and football games as well as in all educational assemblies on the part of the students, was evident in all of Mr. Shivers' actions as he regularly attended athletic events, banquets, and other club activities, and actively aided the P.T.A. with its annual proiects. No matter what problems confronted him as he undertook the directing of faculty members and the setting forth of high standards for students to follow, Lee's principal was continuously willing to give of his valuable time to aid or speak with anyone, whether it be a student, parent, or faculty member. Mr. J. T. Shivers was, and is, a man concerned enough to correct and guide the students of Lee. ' fs ,fi - ,Msn rf ir ' MR. J. T. SHIVERS Principal Q. Faculty . Teachers were compelled to instruct overloaded classes, yet they also attempted to reach each student, each person. They worked with, and for, the pupil- creating a thirst for knowledge and helping to shape each's reality. Administrators cooperated with the teacher and student: demanding more instructors, counselling, and, most of all, maintaining an open mind. 'l5

MR. JAMES COOK Assistant Principal A55l5l9 'l Principal Having taken on the duties of assistant principal last year, Mr. Lucius Randle col- laborated with Lee's other able assistant principals, Mr. James Cook and Mrs. Mary Carolyn Smith, in helping Mr. Shivers with general administration. Although they took the initiative in such taxing duties as patrolling the cafeteria and supervising Lee's physical campus, their reprimanding for tardiness or for numerous other infrac- tions cannot be overlooked, as it is one of the disliked, but necessary, obligations of an assistant principal. I Being assiduous in their work occupied a great part of their school day, yet each found time to enioy most of Lee's football games and various assemblies, and to at- tend many of the yearly banquets. In having three assistant principals, Lee provides students with a necessary guid- ance which offers opportunities for more fulfilling high school lives. MR LUCIUS RANDLE Assistant Principal 'I7
