DEDICATION To keep alive the spirit of the past is not easyg for in these times of sudden change and insecurity. tradition seems to be a thing to defy rather than to rely upon. As a student of history, Mr. Smither has endeavored to instill in each student who attends Lee High a reverence and love for our Virginia history. Through him the spirit of Robert E. Lee has been kept alive. Thus, it is only fitting that we dedicate this 1960 LEEWAY to a man who has followed closely in the tradition of Robert E. LeefMr. Collin E. Smirher. 5
