While taking advantage of its unique ability to swing, the golf team showed that the old saying the woman's place is in the home, is not al- ways true. Under Coach Shirley Stephenson's guidance, the girls utilized after- school golfing sprees and could be found on any one of the Midland golf courses every aftemoon until dark. These sessions paid off, however, as the Varsity team won District as well as Regional and placed sixth at state.

Boys' golf came a long way this year. Tak- ing many awards, the swingers had three members named to the all-district team. It was a disappointing season, reason being they were only beaten out of District by a few strokes by Odessa Permian. Coach Adams re- marked that he was very proud of his Rebels doing such a fine job. The Varsity Golf Team: Pete Lawrance, Curt Raney, Chris Brown, Montie Watson, Buddy Cieh, jeff Hall, Clay Barclay, and Coach Adams.
