So it is at Lee that the school clerks work to keep the aca- demic machinery operating smoothly and ef- fectively. Incoming and outgoing telephone calls, handling of students' permanent records, and the financial details of school functions and services give employment to a staff of able clerks and assistants. 24

LHS counselors share the responsibility of coun- seling this year's extra large freshman class. Students were divided by homerooms for aid in problem solving and schedule planning. Counseling the senior class has presented the challenge of preparing Lee graduates for their future. Handling the scheduling of entrance exams, the applications for scholarships, and the writing of letters of recommendation for future college students are only part of this important job. l l Mr. Grigsby takes a moment out of his busy day to rest

Library Improves Literary Tastes Improving the reading fare of Rebels is the goal undertaken by the Lee library and English Department. There is a growing tendenq' among English teach- ers to assign classic literature for book reports and many students have discovered that the better books are that indeed. A large selection of reference works and periodical literature prove to be very helpful to students in writing research papers and making reports. Mrs. Anderson helps students to check out books and find references for special reports. MAY ANDERSON Head Librarian Texas Woman's University B.A, and M.L.S.
