To some, it meant go- ing out and getting a part-time job to pay for their own gas. clothes, and dates. Oth- ers saved for long-term goals such as col- lege tuition, trips, or a car. Another fact of growing up meant buckling down and hitting the books. Those who wanted to graduate faced trips to the library to work on research papers and late nights prepanng for finals. Getting older meant becoming more independent. Part of that independence was finally getting a driver's license and being able to drive. And our parents final- ly let us go out on our first real date.
