Fall New School Year Rings In Change As Well As Tradition As the lazy, blistering, beech-filled, late- sleeping days of summer came to a close, eager eyes and reluctant sighs gave way to September. Summer s never been long enough. commented Cindy Guerin (11). With the beginning of school, a new year of unexpected changes had begun. When asked about returning to school this fall. Angie Boyett. (12). replied, Everyth- ing was different because of House Bill 72. from pep rallies to grades to senior gradu- ation. Another noticeable change was the completion of the renovation in the com- mons. Red wooden benches, gray carpet- ing. and geometric designs, with bnght splashes of color ranging in shades from deep maroon to pastel pink. When I re- turned to school in the fall, the commons looked a lot nicer,” commented Patsy Nel- son (12). REL was honored in November, when, chosen as one of only two schools in the nation. Japanese ambassadors came to vis- it in early November. They came to ob- serve our school system and classes, which they believed to be a good exam- ple of a model. Amencan education sys- tem.
