At lunch, in the morning, or alter school stu- dents snitch bits of time and find refuge in the cafeteria or commons. Depending on the company present, conversa- tions differ. Perhaps if it Is a group of girls the topic might be. “Are you still dating old what’s hts name? , or maybe even Did you hear who so- and-so went out with last night? If the group is a bunch of guys they might dis- cuss who has the biggest en- gine. who the latest group in town is, or who the finest girl in school is. But no matter what the topic of conversa- tion is. the reason for these discussions is always the same. They are a way to learn the benefit from someone else’s experiences. Now some might say nothing healthy comes from these conversations, but some might disagree After all. school is a learning process which includes learning from other students, as well as teachers. Some might even say that this time spent bum- min“ around is more informa tive than sitting in class.
