Completing them is one of the first major accomplishments in an individual’s life. Stretching before us we have a whole new world of opportunity and experience. The future is ours. What we do with it depends upon our years spent in high school. 7 Its real definition lies in the efforts of the Ganders together. 8 In return it yields knowledge, self-satisfaction, and lasting friendships. 10 11 his responsibilities, his incentives, his unique contributions to our civilization. 12 We must learn to treasure each person individually; both as he is and as he is becoming. 13 Administration Johnny Clark Superintendent School Board Members MR. Lee High School. For the first time, the trimester plan went into effect. Adjusting to the system brought about many changes. Classes were longer, but courses were shorter. Stu- dents were able to arrange their schedules so that they could sleep later in the mornings or leave early in the afternoon. Since two trimesters completed a full year course, many students were able to graduate early. Both students and teachers were able to adjust to the new system. Lee Ganders got off to an impressive start with a 24-7 victory over Spring Branch. The next week Lee was edged out by Port Arthur. 1 -6. The Ganders came back as they got one touch- down to beat the South Houston Trojans 7-0. The Ganders started out their district in a manner that seemed to be a pattern in their race for the title. The Ganders lost in the last 58 seconds for a 17-19 dis- trict opening loss to Smiley. After the loss, the Ganders won over Aldine. 20-0; North Shore. 34-0; and Forest Brook. 42-0. The Ganders lost their hopes for the title with a 3-7 loss to MacArthur. With only 4 minutes left in the game, MacArthur threw a 58 yard pass which was deflected onto the hands of a Gen- eral for a victory. The Ganders came back the next week to topple Galena Park 21-13. The following week the Ganders were a victim of a 4th loss when they lost to Sterling 0-7. The Ganders had a type year in which if they would have had no luck at all. they would have won the title. Instead, they had only bad luck. 127 Jimmy Crouse Forrest Stoerner Gary Hanson Gaylyn Lorfing Tom Stabile George Burnett Richard Dodgen Worthy Warnack Lamar Turner Criss Dippel Richard Wagner Sam Schwendeman Robert Walmsley Ernest Salazan Johnny Huckabee David Jameson Mark De Hoyas Carl Wayne Williams Tim Hazelwood Johnny Urban Phil Herbert Terry Wise David Walker Darrell Jones Claude Barthe Dedman throws joerner puts it down DarreuWcfcs off Dedman drops back: Carders sdr ound Warnack takes a break turns corner The Gander ottense in action 1972 Gander Football Squad NO. 11 Jimmy Crouse Quarterback Junior Junior Varsity 14 Steve Dedman Quarterback Senior 1 Varsity Letter 15 Forrest Stoerner Quarterback Senior Junior Varsity 20 Tommy Gregory Wingback Senior Junior Varsity 21 Mark Petrash Wingback Senior 1 Varsity Letter 22 Tom Stabile Wingback Senior Junior Varsity 23 Gary Hanson Wingback Senior 1 Varsity Letter 24 George Burnett Wingback Senior Junior Varsity 25 Worthy Warnack Tailback Senior Junior Varsity 28 Lamar Turner Tailback Junior Junior Varsity 32 Sam Schwendeman Fullback Senior 1 Varsity Letter 33 Mike Raney Fullback Senior Junior Varsity 36 Richard Dodgen Fullback Senior 1 Varsity Letter 42 Criss Dippel Fullback Junior Junior Varsity 45 Richard Wagner Linebacker Senior 1 Varsity Letter 46 Robert Walmsley Wingback Junior Junior Varsity 50 Galynn Lorfing Center Senior 1 Varsity Letter 52 Pat Shepherd Center Junior Sophomore 55 Jerry Creel Linebacker Junior Junior Varsity 60 Kelvin Sigers Guard Senior 1 Varsity Letter 61 Salvador Razo Guard Senior 1 Varsity Letter 62 Hay Seligman Guard Senior Junior Varsity 63 Robert Shrock Guard Junior Junior Varsity 64 Robert Hinojosa Linebacker Junior Junior Varsity 65 Robert Jennings Guard Senior 1 Varsity Letter 66 Joe Jennings Guard Senior 1 Varsity Letter 68 Mike Masters Tackle Senior Junior Varsity 72 David Henderson Tackle Senior 1 Varsity Letter 75 Ernest Salazar Tackle Junior Junior Varsity 76 Johnny Huckaby Tackle Senior Junior Varsity 77 David Jameson Tackle Junior Junior Varsity 78 Mark DeHoyos Tackle Senior Junior Varsity 80 David Walker Tight-end Senior Junior Varsity 81 Carl Williams Split-end Senior Junior Varsity 82 Tracy Andreas Tight-end Junior Junior Varsity 83 Loell Ernst Split-end Senior Junior Varsity 84 Jimmy Kovalcik Tight-end Senior Junior Varsity 85 Darrell Jones Tight-end Senior 1 Varsity Letter 86 Tim Hazelwood Split-end Junior Sophomore 88 Johnny Urban Tight-end Senior 1 Varsity Letter Student Manager: Claude Barthe Student Trainers: Phil Herbert Terry Wise Offensive disci tiace TTr erSg? d ense f Ipment Gander's offensive line SUICIDE SQUAD 72 REL.
