The NHS decorated a tree in the Commons at Christmastime. MORE FLOWERS! The old members were recognized at the new member installation. NHS. Paul and Pattie Johnston prepare valentines. At the head table were Debbie Chandler, and Mr. and Mrs. John Adams. The Stage Band provided entertainment. The 1971 Honors Banquet was held al the Ram- ad a-Tower Center. This was a great improvement over the previous year when RKL students had to stand in a chow line in the Lee Cafeteria. Master of Ceremonies for the occasion was Jeff Frank: Martha Moore gave the invocation, tin- REL Stage Band, directed hy Charles Forque. provided the special music. Judge Fani Pressior was guest speaker. Matthew Martin commented, He was all right. Principal Henry Armstrong recognized each stu- dent who had received honors during the year. Among those honored were the 43 seniors in the top 10% of the class. National Honor Society members. Science Fair winners, the staffs of the LEE TRAV- ELER and GANDER GAZETTE, Latin R gional and State contest winners. 14L typing entrants, and all region band and choir members. Mrs. Carolyn Franc teacher, times her. Cindy Price won 1st in prose reading. Mr . Barnett is her teacher. Patty Manuel won first place in District shorthand competition and 2nd place in Regional competition, and later competed in state contests. Her instructor is Miss Gtrolyn Baker. B fi James Oliver won first place in the Karth Science division. Phil Adkins won second place in the Zoology-Botany division. SO Paul Boudloche won first place in the Zoology-Botanv division. Susan Rosenbaum won first place in the Medicine-Health divi- sion. First place in the Physics division went to fresh- man Allison Pierce. Denis Cowhig placed second in the Physio di- vision.
