Mr. Nickolos Athos, Sponsor, and Kent Liggett, President of 1969- 1970 Student Senate. The Student Senate of Robert E. Lee High School went through an evolutionary process this year which resulted in major changes in its structure. Members drew up a new Constitution and By-Laws for the organization, which was voted on and ap- proved by the student body. A Student Advisory Council was established to aid faculty-student rela- tions. Provisions were made for an Inter-Club Council, whose purpose it is to coordinate the ac- tivities of school organizations. The Student Senate sponsored this year the first Leadership Retreat for Lee students, which was held at Camp Manison in Friendswood, under the direction of Mr. Earl Reum, a nationally-known stu- dent council advisor, and Mr. Nick Athas, the sponsor of our Student Senate. In addition to these innovations, the traditions of past R.E.L. student councils have been retained. As in previous years the Student Senate this year sponsored the Homecoming festivities, the King and Queen Assembly, and the Christmas tea for the faculty. The Student Senate of R.E.L. is a member of the Texas Association of Student Councils, the South- ern Association of Student Councils, and the Na- tional Association of Student Councils.
