Foreword The starburst is a rare and beautiful sight? Each blaze of light from the explosion adds its own individuality of beauty. Each bla ze unites with hundreds of others to form a starburst upon which a thousand wishes are made and a thousand dark nights are made brighter. Each part is important to the whole beauty. S The starbursts scattered about the pagfes of the 1963 Lee Traveler symbolize the beau- ty of co-operation, unity, and spirit exempli- fied by the students of Rob r-U L Lee High School. Every student and faculty member, every club and team, and every act of good- ness performed by anyone representing our school is a blaze that unites with all the others to form one of the most beautiful starbursts of all in the lives of thousands of people—Robert E. Lee High School. Unlike the starburst upon which wishes are made, Lee is able to fulfill many wishes by providing a great education, both socially and intellectually, for the basis of thousands of good lives. As a person remembers a starburst as a rare experience, so will Robert E. Lee be remem- bered. Its traditions, its educational oppor- tunities, and its wonderful spirit make a life long impression. It has been our desire to make the 1963 Lee Traveler a record of the activities of each group and organization which together were able to make 1963 one of the highest and most beautiful starbursts in the history of Robert E. Lee High School. 4
