Who’s Who at Lee In the 1963 Lee Traveler an academic section has been included for the first time in the history of the yearbook. The purpose of this section is to recognize those students who are outstanding in their departments and therefore create an interest in the academic side of high school. These students were chosen by faculty committees composed of teachers from all of the departments. Each stu- dent was required to have a high average and an above-average interest in the subject for which he was being considered. Service awards have also been presented to those who have served the school faithfully in their three years at Lee. These awards were based on little jobs done by the students that do not demand recognition, hours spent in serving the school after school hours, and their participation in extra-curricular activities. Grades were also considered in the evaluation of the individuals. Don Parkhvrst, representing the Social Studies Department, is truly an outstanding student. Besides being president of the History Club, and participating in many extra activities, Don has shown a high in- terest in social studies and maintained an above-ninety average. Representing the English De- partment is Danny Waddell, a mid-term graduate. Danny pro- duced consistently high grades on English exams in the Col- lege Board and National Mer- it Exams. He maintained one of the highest English aver- ages at Lee. 27
