OLIVE PRUETT, faculty sponsor of the Lee Traveler, year- book, and The Gander Gazette, school newspaper. Mrs. Pruett came to Robert E. Lee in 1945 to teach biology. Today her versatility has been extended to the teaching of English and journalism and the sponsoring of publications. She has given her time and talents willingly and indispensably to this by no means easy task and, through her efforts, has afforded many pleasureable hours to students of Robert E. Lee. Each of the yearbooks sponsored by her has been a creation of lasting interest. She deserves far more credit than can be given her in this small space. By this dedication, members of the '52 staff respectfully and affectionately express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for her help and inspiration. Dear lovely bowers of innocence and ease, Seats of my youth, when every sport could please, How often have I loitered 0'er thy green Where humble happiness endeared each scene! A scene taken on rehearsal night from the D. E. production of Showboat.', Lead roles were played by Merlene Parker and Bennie Middaugh. The Distributive Education Club's version of Metro-Coldwyn-Mayer's great musical was carried out as a club project. ln doing this, the club wrote its own script, created the stage props, including turning the stage into one massive boatg from their own funds rented authentic period costumesg with the cooperation of the Art Department, painted prop and background materialsg handled all publicity for the production, including newspaper and radio releases, posters, handbills, direct mail, and city- wide use of amplifier: purchased and used all make-up materials necessaryg designed and made the programs. As a project. the undertaking was educationally and financially a huge success. The Junior Ministerial Alliance was organized at the beginning of the 1952 spring semester. Its chief aim is to create a fellowship among the members of the religious groups in our school, city, state, and nation. A club is no greater than its leaders and its members. So. therefore. the group has adopted the following principles, by which each mem- ber should strive to abide: Each member shall at all times and places hold his moral standard high: never. under any circumstances, should he lower it. Each member shall spend a part of every day in prayer and in reading the Bible. Each member shall keep a Testament with him at all times so that he may help an interested friend. No member shall let denomination stand between him and friendship for another person. 45 Service 611111 .3 EJ C P 3 Ilvx ba, f -NW! .ji Jarx IS Eastman Faye Barrett Patricia Campbell Velma Dell Carraway Shirley Marie Candle Betty Jean Cole Beverly cle Tuttle La Fay Eixmann Alice Fuson , V' Mrs. R.
