In all the work connected with publishing this book, we have tried to work for the common end--a book that in many years hence may bring back to us pleasant memories of high school life in Robert E. V lf ' N.'55'x GDDBE CREEK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT OFFICE OF IUPIRINTINDINT Boon: Corgan. TI:xAa Our Student Council deserves credit for stepping out among its members and fellow students to sound sentiment for a yearbook. Enthusiam spread throughout the school to get started quickly on a creditable volume portraying high spots, interesting and entertaining episodes in this unique year of our school. Immediately canvassing for subscribers began. Suddenly this campaign ended, the limit having been reached, show ing an example of readiness of students to act effective ly when they have a cause properly presented by their chosen leaders. pg This yearbook will circulate locally and elsewhere down the long, long road of years to come. Its pages will reach our lads of only yesterday, now actively defending our country's flag on high seas and fighting fronts, causing them to fight doubtlessly more valiantly, and naturally to breathe a prayer that they may return once more to their Qld school. May succeeding student councils find as loyal and sympath- etic student bodies and faculty members for making of per- manent record their annual achievements and distinctionsl 0 0 Nichole. Lufkin won on penetrations, the score 7 to 7. 6' GMM WITH GEORGE WALMSLEY goes the greatest athletic record ever compiled in Robert E. Lee High School. He is a four-year letterman in football and a three- year track letterman. He made the District 14-AA All-District from '41 through '43. Although he has received vast publicity, it is great to note that all the boys liked him because he was a great team player, and for that reason above all, loved to play with him. Because of his great prowess on the gridiron, his jersey number, 44, has been retired from the ranks. Walmsley will always be a name of high regard in Robert E. Lee, and will not be forgotten in the many years to come. Q FOOTBALL Walmsley and Roberds stopping Samuels on one of his runs in the Thomas jefferson fSan Antonioj game.
