At the largest meet, Swain Invitational of Duluth, the Robins finished fourth out of 23 teams, and first over five Lake Conference opponents. Here, John Hopko came in 13th out of 130 runners. The 1966 awards were: Top Logger , Bob Haleen, who finished 14th in the district: Most Valuable , John Hopko, who finished third in the district and broke the school record of the two-mile run: and Most Improved , also won by Bob Haleen. This, the thrill of a swimmer's race against himself and others, attracts many fans to the sport of swimming. But to a member of the team, this is the climax, the result of rigid training and long practice hours. He must develop his muscles extensively to be good, for swimming requires more of them than any other sport. Mr. Baumann fakes care of the boys' training but each boy must race alone. The competition is not always a timed one, as the divers, whose form is the most important, known. This year, the team was captained by Alan Graham and Jeff Anderson. WRESTLING Matmen Practice In order to wrestle on a varsity squad as good as the Robins are, a boy must have skill and experience. This is gained through participation in B Squad wrestling, where he is taught the fundamentals of the sport. A chance is also presented to wrestle with A squad members and learn from them. Participation in meets is required. These meets are usually held immediately before the varsity match. This is where a beginner experiences actual competition, complete with an audience, cheerleaders, and referees. As he advances in skill, he may challenge a member of the A Squad for a position on the varsity team. Referee tenses as a Robin matman goes eftor a pin. They also tune car engines, work with radios, and receive training for industry. New equipment, including an oscillograph and electronic instruments have been added this year. Home Economics students learn to be efficient homemakers. Tantalizing aromas draw others as students in cooking classes may be seen sitting down to meals that they have prepared. They make the meals more appealing by using decorative fable settings. Others gain useful information on personality, marriage, and child care. SENIORS Choosing, Reaching for Zheir Own Stars As the Class of '67 begin their roles as school leaders, they choose Wayne Iverson to represent them throughout the year. Among their many activities are heading committees, attending games, planning special functions, dancing at soc hops, semi-formals, costume parties, and the Prom. There is no phase of life at RHS that they are barred from. But more important than the seniors' activities, are the decisions they make during the year. They decide upon the field in which their career will be, and set their goals. Each one is different. Truly, each senior chooses and reaches for his own star.
