As the United States worked tirelessly toward improving international relations, RHS benefited greatly by the acquaintances of several students from foreign countries who attended ROBBINS- ■j DALE this year. These teenagers spoke at club meetings and participated in group discussions. Americans from all walks of life mourned the death of Sam Rayburn who had been speaker of the House for seventeen years. Politically, the U. S. viewed with alarm the resurgence of ultraconservative anti-Com-munist groups, the most boisterous of which, the John Birch Society, busily accused everyone from former presidents to street cleaners of munists. «V 1 yZ c 3
