-D.-F..-, MUSIC DEPARTMENT 'E' The Music Department at Robb Township School has grown both in quantity and quality during the past school year. The Band and Majorettes marched and gave a short concert for the Kiwanis Kids' Day, September 21, 1957. The Chorus journeyed to Evansville to the annual Southern Indiana Choral Festival in October. Gilbert Wiehe was the guest conductor. The Band and Majorettes marched at most of our basketball games. They are shown in the top pictures on the opposite page in the formation of a Grandfather Clock, which they made at one of the games, with the Band forming the face and hands of the clock, and the Majorettes making a moving pendulum. This is just one of the many formations that were made all year. The Dance Band, shown in the lower picture on the opposite page, played for most of the Pep Sessions and at several of the ballgames. The District Solo and Ensemble Contest was held at Evansville College, February 8, 1958. The results were as follows: Division I-Jack Wiley, French Horn Solo and Student Conductingg Roger Fry, Cornet Solog A1 Boren, Trombone Solog Steve Red- man, Bari' one Solo, Linda Kingsley, Harold Martin, Pat Uhde, and Lonnie Murphy, Saxophone Quartet. Division II-Polly Barnett and Verna Dean East, Clarinet Duet, Marijon Redman, Judy Krietenstein, Ann Nash, and Lee Ann Mahrenholz, Clarinet Quartet, Roger Fry and Mont Williams, Cornet Duet. Division III-Mont Williams, Cornet Solo. The State Solo and Ensemble Contest was held at Butler University, February 22, 1958. Our first division winners went and placed as follows: Division I-Jack Wiley, French Horn Solog Roger Fry, Cornet Solo. Division II--A1 Boren, Trombone Solog Steve Redman, Baritone Solog Linda Kingsley, Harold Martin, Pat Uhde, and Lonnie Murphy, Saxophone Quartet. The Band journeyed to Oakland City to participate in the Band Contest held on April 12, 1958. The Indiana State Teachers College Symphonic Band gave a very enjoyable concert in the gym on April 15, 1958. The Bands and Choruses of the Metropolitan School District of North Posey County schools came here to participate in the annual Band and Chorus Festival on April 29, 1958.
