Kennedy, Secretary-Treasurer. ’ The Roanoke Rapids Library Club, made up of student library assistants operates under the fol- lowing objectives: (1) to increase pupil interest and participation in school library and in audio- visual work; (2) to arouse inter- est in the study of librarianship and audio-visual work. The Roanoke Rapids High School Club meets monthly, sponsors book teas for teachers, has book collection drives for underprivileged children, partici- pates in the Christmas dance, attends district and state conven- tions. The club has adopted a policy of taking foreign ex- change student to its conven- tions as well as preparing for her a scrapbook composed of all news items related to her. This year was the second time the club has been host to the district convention. During the past several years Roanoke Ra- pids members have served in four district offices and one state office. The Jacket Journal Staff while learning the techniques of writing news, features, and edi- torials, publishes a paper each week in the interest of up-to- date, quality news coverage of the school’s activities. The members of the journal- ism class do most of the work from gathering and writing the news to mimeographing and dis- tributing the final product.
