JAY VEE As March went out the Roanoke Rapids Jayvee baseball team started their trek into the baseball season. They started with a win over Kinston, but they lost their second game to Weldon, They won their next three games against Weldon, Wilson shut the Baby Jackets out in their tirst game but in the second game the Junior Jackets upset them. E-'PILL 4 Y YH -1,4 '94- ffm Red Narron and James Edwards in the lead in the lOO-yard dash. Rex Harris clears the pole to win Jerry Lee covers his distance the broadjump. TRACK The first track meet that Roanoke Rapids entered was supposed to be a triangular track meet with Greenville and Elizabeth City. Greenville couldn't make it so Roanoke Rapids and Elizabeth City went ahead with the meet. Elizabeth City defeated the Yellow Jacket cin- dermen in their first meet. ln the next track meet, Roanoke Rapids played Elizabeth City again. lt was a close meet all the way with Elizabeth City leading only by a few points. When the track meet was over Roanoke Rap- ids lost by a few points, 44-37. Roanoke Rapids played their third straight meet with Eliza- beth City. In this meet we were missing a cou- ple of boys because of sprained ankles. The Yellow Jacket cindermen could not over power 126
