BASEBALL towards the last part of the season. Early in the baseball season the Yellow Jackets enjoyed a winning streak with five wins and two losses. Oxford, Henderson, Greenville, Elizabeth City, and Jacksonville fell before the Yellow Jackets, but Wilson and Kinston outslugged the team. Then Roanoke Rapids hit a losing streak, losing to New Bern, Jacksonville, Washington, Kinston, Greenville. Next the Yellow Jackets won over Elizabeth City and lost their last game to New Bern. Collins sets him down. 3 L, ,,,5, VARSITY The Yellow Jacket baseballers of Roanoke Rapids turned in a commendable record of six vic- tories, one tie, and eight defeats. The Jackets didn't have many veterans last year but had ci lot of material coming from the tenth and eleventh grades. The Roanoke Rapids club had an entire new pitching staff and the lack of experience proved fatal. No matter what the reason, the Jacket base- ball players could not muster the strength to match the competition

JAY VEE As March went out the Roanoke Rapids Jayvee baseball team started their trek into the baseball season. They started with a win over Kinston, but they lost their second game to Weldon, They won their next three games against Weldon, Wilson shut the Baby Jackets out in their tirst game but in the second game the Junior Jackets upset them.
