them. New Bern won with a score of 85 to 53. The game with Jacksonville Started out to be a good game for Roanoke Rapids but the Jackets dropped behind late in the first half. ln the second half they closed the lead to only a few points but the Jacksonville team edged away again. The score was 68 to 55 in favor of the Cardinals. This second game with Kinston was a great ball game. The score was close throughout the game. Toward the last of the game Kinston and Roanoke Rapids were exchanging point for point, but the Yellow Jackets couldn't hit on their foul shots in the last few seconds and lost 48 to 46. In this second game with Washington the Pam-Pack got a lead and kept it and no matter what the Jackets would do, they couldn't get ahead of them. The game ended Washington 44 and Roanoke Rapids 36. ln their next to the last home game the Jackets played Greenville. The game was close during the first half but in the second the Phantoms got a lead that the Yellow Jackets couldn't tap. The final score was 7l to 60. The last home game was played with Elizabeth City. ln this game the Yellow Jackets got an early lead and after the first quarter much substitution was made. Roanoke Rapids won with a score of 75 to 61. For their last regular game the Jackets traveled to New Bern. The score was close and stayed that way throughout the game. In the last quarter the Yellow Jackets were hitting very well but New Bern managed to pull through and win by one point. The score was 4l to 40. ln the tournament the Yellow Jackets were eliminated in their first game, against Greenville. They tried hard but couldn't overcome the lead Greenville got early in the game. The score was 52 to 44.

BASKETBALL The Jayvee basketball team has an excellent record this year. They only lost two games out of the nineteen they played-one to Washington, 54 to 29, and one to Kinston, 47 to 42. The Junior Jackets showed good sportsmanship and playing ability. Coach Curtis built a team that has given an excellent account of itself this season, The team was sparked by excellent ball handling and fine shooting ability. The Jayvees earned every victory with team play and hard work. Playing on the Jayvees provides valuable experience for the boys who will later be the mainstays on the varsity teams.
