Whether or not this is true, there are probably 450 men in the ROANOKEE Gunnery Department who will claim that the per, formance of their weapons certainly justifies the existence of this great ship. Time and space have prevented these weapons from being tested in action, but there is little doubt as to their ability, should this test come, to prove them as effective in battle as in combat exercises. But the E's,' are not the only measure of the effectiveness of the Gunnery Department. The cleanliness of the ship's exterior spaces, the seamanlike handling of her deck operations, and the efficiency of helicopter and drone launches and recoveries all attest to the unremitting excellence of the ......
