EDITOR LT B. R. INMAN BUSINESS MANAGER LT R. P. HILTON It is fitting that the last words remain to the harried editor, in order that praise may be duly bestowed, and the blame shifted elsewhere. Much effort has gone into these pages and many have contributed of their time . ..and here we take space to thank those few who gave many of their hours: to Lieutenant Bob Hilton, not only for his outstanding iob of financing the book through various schemes, but also for his encouragement, sympathy and assistance in the actual composition of the book...to PH3 Don Marks who cheerfully gave up many of his hours of liberty in the constant struggle to supply the portrait of a cruise...to JO3 Bob Grueter and PFC John Coleman for their valued assistance on layouts and their restraining hands on some of the wilder caption ideas...to Seaman Whittenhagen for assistance on the photographic coverage . . .to Ensign Herb Smetheram for assistance in proofreading...to Mr. Suga of Toppan who supervised the printing...to Lieutenant Len Coates who scouted for pictures and kept the money coming from bingo. . .the Iist could go on and on. Separate mention must go to three young men: Tronstad, Rameriz and MacDonald. Tronstad designed the cover and the insert pages, MacDonald did the fly leafs, and together with Rameriz, the cartoons spread throughout the book. In these pages we have attempted to tell the story of six months in photographs with terse comment, and with a minimum of deathless prose. Unlike modern novels, the daily language of the salty sailor has not yet become popular in Cruise Books, and we shied away from blazing any new trails.-And the blame...I don't know, Mac, but it didn't happen on my watch!
