I I I I., .1 I I I I A Challenge to the Class of 1945 We, the seniors and graduates of 1944, leave a challenging thought to the juniors. Though our abilities were not of the greatest nor were om' attempts 'mall smashing successes, we tried to honestly carry our responsibilities. The obligations we were to assume we handled as ably as we could. We found, in the fall of 1943, that our newly acquired responsibility of being the oldest and the pace setters in school, was by no means an easy one. Because we were seniors we were obliged to take positions of importance and to reach decisions by the application of clear thought and good judg- ment. ' Our class was little different from other senior classes and your senior class of '45 will probably not differ greatly either. The highly regarded and reputable standards of our school must never be lowered. We, as hundreds of other Roanoke High school graduates, have accepted and fulfilled the responsibility of being seniors. So, to you seniors of 1945, take up the challenge and accept with pride, the responsibilities of leadership which will be yours next year and carry on in the best tradition of our alma mater. I 3
