Seated: Jack Sauder, Jerry Sauder, John Sauder, Richard Zimmerman, Jim Leman. Basketball The basketball season of 1943-44 came to a close on Feb. 24, with the Rockets Winning eight games and losing fourteen games. Coach Cravens comments on the team, I realize that this year's team probably lost more games in a season of regular play than any other team which I have coached. However, they deserve a lot of praise because they were the best of trainers and fought to the last whistle. When one remembers that the tallest boy on the first team was five feet ten inches tall this accounts for so many losses. Next year will find two players absent from the team. Those graduating are Jack and Jerry Sauder. Those receiving letters for basketball are Captain Jerry Sauder, Richard Zimmerman, Jim Leman, Jack Sauder, and John Sauder. The junior boys took the inter-class basketball tournament over the senior boys who received second place. The senior girls took the inter-class basketball game from the freshmen, who received second place honors. 25
