Welcome ilu ard Warn a ROANOKE sailor wishes lllcj' ti iilclse more o this grin from Diamond Dave. 4 Even though LCDR Christie has served on auxiliary ships before, he still needed to brush up on a few things. Here he consults with LCDR Lance McMillan, the ships Operations Officer. LCDR Davis W. Christie was born in Cambridge, Ohio. He graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 1978 and received a Bache- lor of Science in Physics. After attending the Surface Warfare Of- ficer's School Basic Course at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA, his first operational assignment was aboard USS MERRILL CDD 976D where he act- ed as ship's electrical officer. His next assignment brought him to the USS KANSAS CITY QAOR 31 as First Divi- sion Officer and later as Assistant First Lieutenant. He followed that tour with an assignment to Commander Service Group One fnow renamed COMLOGGRU ONED. He served on the staff as Scheduling Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. Upon completion of the Surface Warfare Offi- cer School Department Head Course in Newport Rhode Island he was assigned to USS ALAMO CLSD 335 as Chief En- gineer. During his tenure, ALAMO re- ceived her first two Engineering red E awards in her thirty-two years of com- missioned service. LCDR Christiels decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. Executive Officer 7
