Pro hecy It rs Roann Booster 1973 As I Mrs Dave Schuler who works part trme rn the bank was lookrng out of the bank wrndow heard someone say Hello Ellre It was Ken Grandstaff lookrng very hand some and drstrngurshed wrth hrs lovely wrfe the former Drane Baker They had flown rn from hrs la assrgnment as a forergn drplomat Ken and Drane both graduated from college Drane taught school before they were marrred Whrle we were talkrng Rrchre Srders walked rn to make a large deposrt for the Srder s Gravel Com pany of whrch he rs presrdent He rs one of the leadrng crtrzens of Roann havrng Just frnrshed burldrng a beautrful home rn the Srder s Addrtron At thrs moment two women came rnto the bank rushed up to us and started chatterrng at a great rate Elva Kochenour had graduated from busrness school and was offrce manager for Wolf and Dessauer rn Fort Wayne Marrret Steele was workrng rn Wabash and rn her spare trme was actrve rn the local Players Club She rs consrdered a frrst rate comedran she always steals the show wrth her rmrtatrons Who rs thrs'P A tall stately lookrng woman came rn whom we all recognrzed as the former Norma Bryan She rntroduced her three chrldren Her husband rt seems rs the owner of a lumber mrll rn the heart of the Red Woods rn the West Whrle Dave Schuler was walkrng by he saw the gang rnsrde so he came rn to greet all hrs old class mates He rnvrted them out to hrs model farm for an after Booster gab fest and feed He graduated from Purdue rn Agrrculture and takes a great deal of prrde rn hrs establrshment Srnce Mrs Steve Petty Carol Schram was rn charge of the pageant trckets Mr and Mrs Zrnre master went to the Produce Shop to buy therr trckets They bought frve trckets so therr famrly must have rncreased rn the last 17 years Mrs Zrnremaster was the former Marrlyn Slee and after rnqurrrng l learned that they own a brg farm near Chester He also has a profrtable mrlk route that he uses as a hobby They had not left the Shop very long untrl Mr and Mrs Davrd Closser came rn wrth therr cute pau of twrn boys It looks as though hrs krds wrll follow rn hrs steps because they were very proud when therr daddy won the 500 mrle race at the Speedway last summer l thrnk maybe wrth the fortune Dave won that they wrll bruld therr dream farm Mrs Davrd Closser was the former Carol Watson Mr and Mrs Bob Ferrre wrth therr two chrldren also came rn to buy therr pageant trckets Bob has on hrs well frtted unrform whrch he recerved rn hrs Navy career He was statroned rn Calrforma when he met hrs lovely wrfe They are very happy rn therr moderate home near the coast The trckets are almost gone Guess there wrll be a brg crowd Wart here comes one more of those mrghty 55 graduates It rs Jack Gaunt who rs now very successful rn the Gaunt Constructron Company rn Northern lndrana Jack was marrred shortly after graduatron to the sweet Lrnda Gamble of Wabash They are now lrvrng very comfortable rn therr ranch type home whrch was constructed by Jack A brg crowd seems to be formrng around a brg drstrngurshed man near the merry go round He rs srgnrng autographs for the many many fans he has collected by berng rn the Unrted Natrons He rs none other than the Mr Bruce Mouser Drrvrng up to the elevator rn hrs 1973 truck where Mr Chuck Rohr rs workrng rs Vernon Krnzre wrth a load of corn to be shelled He has done very well for hrmself rn the past years He graduated from Purdue and has bought hrs father rn law s farm He and Bev have three chrldren As we were talkrng loud shoutrng was heard outsrde so we went to see what was happenrng It was General Arthur Haynes on a platform tryrng to get votes for the comrng electron He was made general for hrs herorc actrons and achrevements wlule he was rn servrce As we walked back to the elevator John Dyson walked up wrth hrs wrfe and erght boys He has a farm around Rrch Valley and has 60 mrlk cows all Holsterns of course He also went to Purdue for four years Wlule we were talkrng to John about hrs 300 acre farm Mrrram who has come rn for a nde or two on the Octopus walked up After she graduated she worked at home for a few years and frnally marrred Gary Jackson from Chester Lrke the Krnzres they have three chrldren Just then Tom Bussard walked rn to tell us of the brg feed at Dave Schuler s Tom bought hrmself a farm about ten or frfteen years ago and one day when they were dnllrng for water they struck orl and he made hrmself a fortune After talkrng to the 55 graduates we realrze that many unexpected thrngs have happened rn therr lrves . i . , n . . Class H Lstor In the fall of 43 twelve m1schrevous boys and grrls marched rnto Mrs Eby s f1rst grade room It was drffrcult to settle down but we had to ad1ust ourselves to the students and to our teacher Those stu dents who started were Jack Gaunt Tom Bussard Ken Grandstaff Tom Bechtol John Dyson Dav1d Schuler Bruce Mouser Larry Harris Larry Burnsworth Carol Watson Mrrram Swlhart and Norma Per sonett Mrs Deardorff took over our educatron 1n the second grade Four new students Arthur Haynes Vernon Kmzre Elva Kochenour, and Marrlyn Slee came to Jorn our group Colleene and Marr1et Steele dropped back from the class ahead Norma Personett moved away at the end of thrs year Seventeen members returned to cont1nue our educatxon rn the thrrd grade wrth Mrs Eby as our teacher Darrel Bowman and Norma Bryan came th1s year and we lost Larry Hams and Tom Bechtol who moved to other schools As we gradually turned our revolvmg door we swmg into another year of educatron wrth seventeen members We garned two new members durmg the year Dav1d Closser and Drane Baker Berng promoted to the flfth grade Mr Fouts was our teacher We gamed two members who dropped back to our class Rrchard Srders and Delores Shepard We had twenty one members rn the srxth grade Darrell Bowman left us later on durmg the year Mr Fouts, who was st1ll our teacher gave us the frnal push rnto Iunror Hrgh Frnally we got upstarrs whrch we had been looktng forward to for a long t1me We really thought we were b1g when we were up there w1th the older krds Mrss Krmmel was our sponsor In the erghth grade we garned two new members Slnrley Walton and Kay Braden Delorrs Shepard moved away Mrs Byers was our class sponsor ln the fall of 1951 we entered hrgh school wrth twenty one enthusrastrc students Delorrs Shepard came back to Jorn us We all enjoyed the prrvrleges of Jomrng the drfferent actrvrtres We organrzed our class by electmg offxcers wrth Ken Grandstaff Pres1dent Carol Watson Vrce Pres1dent Arthur Haynes Secretary and Treasurer and we had three councrl members Our class sponsor was Mrs Byers Delorrs Shepard Shrrley Walton and Kay Braden left us th1s year As we began our Sophomore year we had nmeteen members Mrss R1nehart was our faculty adv1sor Durmg tlus year we had two paper drrves We were very proud of our maroon and whrte class sweaters whrch we purchased that year We agam elected offrcers wrth Ken Grandstaff Pres1dent Bruce Mouser Vrce President Drane Baker, Secretary and Treasurer and we had three councrl members Our Jumor year was frlled wrth plenty of actrvrtres Our concessron at noons and basketball games proved to be very profrtable Our Jumor Play was Rest Assured under the d1rect1on of Mrs Catherme Dawald Mrss Rrnehart was agam our class sponsor and Vernon Kmzre was Presrdent of the class Dav1d Schuler was V1ce Pres1dent Drane Baker was Secretary and Ken Grandstaff was Treasurer Larry Burns worth and Colleene Steele left us durmg th1s year After eleven years of co operatron and compamonshrp, seventeen of us wrth Mr Erler as our guxde were ready to complete our last year There was one new member Bob Ferrre who came to Jom us thrs year Our class play was So Th1s ls Blrss under the duectron of Mrs Catherrne Dawald We sold Chrlstmas cards magazrnes and had bake sales to make money for our tr1p Our class offxcers were Ken Grandstaff Presrdent Dav1d Closser V1ce Presrdent Carol Watson Secretary Dlane Baker Treas urer and we had three councll members The Class chose for therr flower red roses color navy and whrte and our motto Our Work IS our Wealth Wrth earnest effort we have strrved to obtarn our drplomas Upon rece1v1ng them all wrll be glad but some wrll have a farnt feelmg of regret that our school lrfe rs past Golden frrendshrps have formed rn our happy school days and as we wander apart we will have the sweet memorres of them Now wrth the gurdance and educatron of our parents and teachers we feel more confrdent as we face the future Carol Watson X 0 11 11 - - - - 1 - 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 Q 1 Q 1 Q , 1 1 1 Q 1 1 ' 1 Q Q 1 1 1 1 1 1 , 1 Q Q Q 1 - 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 I Q Q Q 1 1 0 1 Q Q Q 1 1 1 1 F F 1 Q . . ,, ,, . . .
