Class H istory In the fall of '42. sixteen bashful boys and girls entered the new school to make our first showing, which proved successful. At first it was difficult for us to adjust ourselves to the surroundings, but we soon became ac- quainted with the students and our teacher, Mrs, Eby, who was our teacher for three more years. Those students who started were: Bonnie Bryan, Caroline Keppel, Marilyn Burnsworth, Sandra Cain, Jack Hall, Marriet Steele, Colleen Steele, Connie Haag, Joyce Needham, Richard Siders, Edward Collins, Terry Milam, Dale Hapner, Larry Mallot, Stephen Petty and Charles Hollinback, Edith Hively joined us the second semester. Bonnie Bryan left at the end of the year, Now we have swung into another year of our education, There were five new students: Susanne Baber, Robert Kirtlan, Delores Shepherd, Nancy Tesh and Joanne Harman, who came to join us this year. Colleen and Marriet dropped back a grade and Terry Milam and Caroline Keppel left us at the end of the first semester, We started our third year with seventeen students, During this year, Elizabeth Cook and Jimmy South joined us Beginning the fourth grade, we gained four new classmates: Mary Alice Brown, Phyllis Reed, Harley Steele and Charles McColley. Nancy Tesh, Mary Alice Brown, Phyllis Reed, Charles Hollinback, Elizabeth Cook. Jim- my South and Edward Collins left during the year, V After being promoted, we entered the fifth grade with Mr. Fouts as our teacher, We had one new member, Bonnie Francis, and later in the last semester Bonnie Bryan joined our class again, Richard Siders and Delores Shepherd dropped back a grade. Marilyn Burnsworth and'Bonnie Francis left at the end of the year. In the sixth grade, Carol Dyson and Darlene Fawley joined our class, leaving a total of sixteen, We were still under the direction of Mr, Fouts. At last, we were upstairs. At first, we were a little bashful to the extent that we couldn't even sharpen our pencilsg but we soon caught on to the tricks of the trade, During that year, we had a float at Booster and even won 3rd prize for it, We were quite proud of ourselves. Mrs, Ummel was our sponsor. Darlene Fawley left at the end of the year. In the eighth grade Jimmy South, Sharon Boardman and Carol Sproal joined our class. During the end of the year Jimmy South, Sharon Boardman and Charles McColley left. Thus leaving fifteen to start the last four years at Roann High School, Mrs, Ummel was our sponsor, In the fall of '50, fifteen students enrolled in R, H,S, as 'Green Freshmen, Many of us joined in various activities of the school. We organized our class by electing officers, Our president was Dale Hapner, secretary, Carol Dyson: treasurer, Susanne Baber, There were two new members, Sara Jane Kratzer and Sam Poe, Four of our classmates, Sam Poe, Sandra Cain and Carol Sproal and Joanne I-larman, left. We are now in another year of our education, Fellow Classmates, we are now sophomores. We again elected officers, with Dale Hapner as presidentg Carol Dyson, secretary and Sara Jane, as treasurer, Richard Summers joined us this year. We received our class sweaters and even though it was hot that day we still wore them. We also had a paper drive this year, Miss Custer was our sponsor, Now that we have reached our third year of high school, we could make ourselves at home with Mrs. Bussard as our guide. Our officers this year were: Dale Hapner, president: Connie Haag, secretary: Stephen Petty, treas- urer, Larry Mallot and Connie Haag left us, We received our class rings this year. We were so proud of them that we had to show everyone, We Jolly Juniors' had the privilege of presenting a successful play, If Mother Only Knew, under the direction of Mrs, Catherine Dawald. After eleven years of companionship and working together, twelve of us were ready to complete the last year of our education with Mrs. Bussard as our sponsor, Our class officers were: Dale Hapner, president: Carol Dyson, secretaryg Susanne Baber, treasurer. We chose as our class motto, At the end of work comes success g flower, Rose: colors, Blue and Silver, We were very busy making our last year a success. We presented our Senior Play, 'Desperate Ambrose, which Mrs, Catherine Dawald directed. Some of our class are busy working on the annual which is being published for the first time this year. Carol Dyson is editor-in-chief, We, the class of 1954, have had twelve successful years at R, H,S, with the aid of our teachers, officers and sponsor. We have enjoyed working together in spite of the hardships we have had, and as we leave, our friends be- hind us, we wish to say, Farewell, '
