01644 In the year 1958 I Mrs Harold Shafer formerly Sally Jo Ha1n was wa1t 1ng for my husband to get off work 1n the new telev1s1on plant 1n Beatr1ce Ihad sent my l1ttle boy and g1rl to the mat1nee and was done w1th my shopp1ng and had noth1ng to do I was ponder1ng what to do Wlth my t1me when suddenly I got an 1dea to go to a crystal ball gazer and f1nd out what the future held for me I crossed 158th street 1n Beatr1ce that ran off one of the s1de streets down near the ra1lroad tracks and entered under the s1gn that read Mme F1f1 Sees All Knows All I entered the d1mly l1t room and saw two slant1ng yellow green eyes star 1ng at me It sent ch1lls up and down my sp1ne but I sat down resolvmg to go through Wlth lt F1rst of all she had me s1t very st1ll wh1le she concentrated She mumbled a few maglc words of theOr1entaltongue and sa1d Now I see your future as lt l1es before me After she had read my future I asked her 1f she could look 1nto my fellow classmates' l1ves and tell me what they were do1ng th1s day She Sald she could and thus began It seems that Mar1lyn 1S now a graduate nurse and work1ng at the new Veteran's hosp1tal 1n Holme sv1lle where she 1S head nurse Verdella IS a successful stenographer work1ng at the Very F1rstNat1on al Bank of Holmesv1lle She 15 really rolhng 1n the dough and sav1ng lt for that spec1al occas1on I was surprlsed to learn that Sh1rley 1S 1n Wash1ngton D C where she IS maklng use of her shorthand by tak1ng one hundred words a m1nute for the V1ce Pres1dent of the Un1ted States It seems as though Rex 1S st1ll cont1nu1ng h1S career 1n basketball by play1ng on the Ph1ll1pS 66 O1lers team He was on tour through Holmesv1lle last year at the new aud1tor1um Ruby 1S now work1ng at Holme sv1lle's Veteran's Hosp1tal as a recept1on 1St She IS plannmg fora large church wedd1ng I knew who the lucky fellow was Gerald after a career Wlth the Navy 1S marr1ed and l1v1ng on a ranch 1n W om1ng Paul1ne has now replaced MISS Emerson as a pr1mary teacher at Holmes v1lle 1n 1ts new elementary school She has real1zed her amb1t1on as a pr1mary teacher and 13 a very good one Alma 13 now fly1ng between Hollywood and Honolulu She has a Job as a stewardess The crystal ball gazer Sald she now has Jeffrey Hunter on board Russell 15 now Holme SV1lle'S exclus1ve Cad1llac dealer He now dr1ves a new red' Cad1llac convert1ble Eleanor 1S WOrk1ng 1n Washmgton D C as a secretary for Washmgton P1-1nt1ng Company 'She and Sh1rley l1ve 1n a penthouse stud1o on floor 30 of the Skylark Apartments Glenadeen was marr1ed several years ago and 15 l1v1ng 1n Wymore where her husband has a Job w1th the ra1lroad Glenadeen 15 home kn1tt1ng l1ttle th1ngs Here Mme F1f1 gave a Slgh and told me that she could see no one else I pa1d her and left w1th my heart f1lled w1th fond memor1es of our old h1gh school days I ' I - .
