ramalacd The school year 1948 49 constxtuted our second year of work m speech and dra matics Early in December a one act play Balcony Scene was presented at Adams for the Mudecas one act play contest The members of the cast were Lavona Frerxchs Barbara Switzer Thomas Bear Duane Howard Gene Cripe Kathryn Forsyth, Letha Epp and David Srsler The play did not receive one of the three ratings gwen but was very well commented upon by members of the audience Davrd Sxsler recewed an rn dxvidual award for hrs portrayal of the leadmg role The Junxor Class presented the comedy play The Groom Said No on November 23 Mexnbers of the cast were Dan Switzer Darrell Jenkrns Donald Linsenmeyer Junmy Smxth Yvonne Howard Naomi Frantz Helen Lmsenmeyer A1 Jean Wxlson, The Senior Class wrll present its play on Aprxl 12 13 It wxll be a mystery comedy The Whrspermg Room The entire Semor Class and Letha Epp Kathryn Forsyth and Marjorxe Brockrnan were selected to make up the cast for the play The school participated in the dxstrrct speech contest at Tecumseh on March Z4 Out of the entire high school dramatics group Kathryn Forsyth was selected for the humorous dxvrsron and received an excellent ratrng Bavxd Sisler was selected for the serxous readmgs and recewed a superior ratmg Lavona Frerxchs gave an orrgrnal oration and received an excellent rating The Patchwork Quxlt a one act play was produced The cast xncluded Dan Switzer Mary White A1 Jean Wilson Barbara Switzer Isabelle White Ruth Lineweber and Don Llnsenmeyer The play received a ratmg of good Z4 . . be ll Donna Cody, Mary White, and Ruth Lineweber.

girl: , rio Yvonna Howard Joan Abbott Helon Lxnsenmeyer Muaic Instructor Pauline Bell MJCC Our music program started off with a bang this year with a good deal of practxc ing and appearances The trio composed of Yvonne Howard soprano Joan Abbott second soprano Helen Linsenmeyer alto sang at the hrst P T A meet1ng They won a superior rating at the Mudecas contest and are planning to attend the District contest A girls octet was selected from the entire girls chorus The members are Barbara Switzer Mary White first soprano Lavona Frerlchs Naomi Frantz second soprano Kathryn Forsyth Dorothy Ellis first alto and Al Jean Wilson Dolores Arnold low alto The group sang at P T A ln January and at the music festival at Fxlley they received an excellent rating at the Mudecas contest and are planning to sing at the District contest Duane Howard Dan Switzer Loren Frantz and David Sxsler are the members of the boys quartet lhcy recewed a superior rating at the Mudecas contest and plan to make appearances at each of the remaining contests A boys trio has been named for the first tlme in several years DonL1nsenrneyer The vocal soloists who performed at the Mudecas contest were girls hxgh Yvonne Howard superior Barbara Switzer excellent girls medium Lavona Frerxchs excel lent Ioan Abbott excellent girls low Helen Lxnsenrneyer excellent Al Jean Wilson excellent, boys h1gh Duane Howard superior boys medzum Don Lxnsenmeyer excel lent Bob Emerson excellent boys low Loren Frantz superior Davzd Sxsler superior Instrumental solos at the Mudecas were performed by Roland Hardin piano accordxan excellent Letha Epp violin superior Joan Abbott and Donna Stutevtlle piano both supertor These contestants plan to attend the District contest The mixed chorus sang at P T A in January They participated in the Mudecas contest and received a good The gxrls glee club and the boys glee club sang at the Mudecas contest also The girls received a good and the boys received an average At different tunes this year Holmesville has been asked to present a program at vanous schools Some oi the smaller groups have helped to present the program Z3 M ' . . . . .
