' A-fa-ff: .. - 4 4 1 ll f, History of The Class of l959 In September 1946 the RIVBFVIBW Commumty Hlgh School graduatlng class of 1959 entered k1ndergarten havlng as thelr classroom Room 101 now known as the Art Room Members of th1s class then and now are Charlot Anderson Dav1d Stav Dav1d Slmmons Pam W1ll1ams Lmda Stahl Glorxa GalShlI1 Dxane Johnson Arlene Amross Marllyn S1e1off B111 Relchelderfer Ron Lafrate and Rose Hxcks Upon completmg kmdergarten we transferred to the F B Sxbley School where we stayed unt11 we had fmlshed the seventh grade Dur1ng th1s t1me we proved to be qu1te a class Our talented members pa1't1c1pated m many school act1v1t1es our stud1ous members won spellmg bees and honor roll awards and our cut ups and rmscluevous members kept our class very lxvely F1nally after what seemed an eterruty of waltxng we entered the elghth grade at the A E Sm1th H1gh School We sponsored a dance and had aslave sale w1th the proceeds gomg 1nto the Dream Fund our semor tr1p money In 1956 the year we became Freshmen our school was overcrowded and k1ds kept comlng and gomg but lt was fun Barbara Morab1to was chosen as an attendant to the Queen for the Festxval we sponsored another dance and of course we were 1n1t1ated wlththat everlastmg l1pst1ck smelly perfume and trxps to the cemetery As Sophs we settled down and worked a b1t harder Some of our boys began ta.k1ng an actlve part 1n athletxcs some of the glrls became cheerleaders and a lot of the others just settled down mto a da1ly routxne of goxng to school and home agam Aga1n we sponsored some dances one of them bexng the successful Sad1e Hawk1ns Dance and our class boasted of representatxves taklng actxve parts 1n almost every club 1n school As t1me passed by we became more conscxous of our grades our actxvltxes and our class proJects We had several chocolate chlp cookle sales sold autograph books and had several successful dances The top ten boys and glrls scholastxcally speakxng also represented our class as Honor Guards for the Semors of 1958 Pxcked too were Charlot Anderson and Lonn1e Shxdaker to represent our school at Glrls' and Boys' State Wlth our Juruor year completed most of us found Jobs so that our semor expenses could be handled We started our semor year determlned to make lt the best year yet Remember the excxtement when we recelved our class rxngs 1n November? They will be included next year. The Track team, under the direction of Coach Svitchan, was able to come out on top in only three meets in 1958. With all butthree runners returning this spring, however, the coach can look forward to a good season. Golf made its debut in 1958 under Coach Ankney. Although the team didn't manage to win any meets, they gained experience for this year. With four of the six golfers back, we should have a good season.
