Page 124 text:

SWEETHEART PROM The Sweetheart Prom, sponsored by the Echoes Staff, was held in the Gold Room of the Sheraton-Jefferson Hotel February 5. It didn ' t just happen. Preparations were made by the staff several months in advance and continued up to the last few hours. Amidst the valentine decorations, sweethearts and their dotes danced to the music of Artie Schieler and his or- chestra until that long-awaited moment of the court ' s presentation arrived. Mistress of Ceremonies, Sharon Kumbier, introduced firsi- of all the Retiring Queen, Patricio Carson, escorted by Terry Pardeck. As Pat and four hundred and fifty other faces looked on, each Maid entered and graciously curtseyed on her way to the throne. When her court had assembled. Queen Pot stepped from her honored seat and presented her bouquet of roses to Carole Jonsing, the new Sweetheart Queen. Happy with tears and a big smile, Carole, escorted by Brad Deaver, began the Queen ' s Dance. The rest of the court followed and then everyone joined in to dance the night away. It ' s hard to imagine so much excitement crammed into will long remember it as one of the social high- three hours, but those who were there witnessed it and lights of the year.
