BASlBAll FRONT ROW: I. LEAKE, W. CURT, J. RODERICK, R. KIEL, P. Souzs, R. GREEN, B. PARKER. SECOND ROW: COACH HALL, R. ROSEMKOETTER, N. HEnRoNzMus, R. Weiss, E. GREEN, R. Gunn, A. ELLERSIECR, A. RIEGEL. Riverview's 1949 baseball season was a very mediocre 'one--winning only one game and losing six. With such a short season, everyone realizes it is hard to get a good squad made up. However, with the loss of only three Sen- iors, the outlook is bright for a good season next year. ,if N ' I , X . :- ., ' . .43 , 9 .f -N' W, 5 2, ay ' is T' xl ,'-:,f'. y - ITHIIBUAIIIIIS They say that enthusiasm is contagious. No better proof of this can be found in our own school than at our various athletic games in which the cheering is conducted by the cheerleaders. This year's cheerleaders have added a large selection of new yells to Riverview. One of the most popular ones is Sound Off. This year's cheerleaders include Hildegard Marquart, Betty Olmsted, Joann Diefenbach, Sue Hester, and Beverly Prevallet. 45

IIIACK no ' The Riverview track squad under the experiencedguidance of Coach Joel Hall racked up twice as many wins as defeats as well as taking second place in the annual North St. Louis County Meet. There were steady point gatherers in almost every event who made up a well-balanced, cooperative squad. Bill Parker took time out from baseball to consistently win first place in the 100 and ZOO yard dashesg his running mates were Ron Funkhouser and .Tim Gamble. Gil Huenke, a game fellow, ran high hurdles, with Charlie Stubblefield and Jack Roderick his running mates. Bob Gunn, the only member of the team to place in the Class B Principia Meet at Taylor Field, took third in the discus. While Art Ellersieck and Dudley I-Iuett ran the 440-dash, Randall Rosenkoetter, Don Ballman and Ed Lorenz teamed up to run the grueling 880. Al Reigel and Ray Kiel were jumping mates at the high jump. Bob Wright and George Schuischellis ran the ever-so-hard mile. Good crowds at the meets and ardent followers at the practices were important factors in the 1950 season. 47 L
