Sanborn, Superintendent gi urvserrou, K.uzsAs -x Ei, mn-ch u., 191.7 'sl To the Riverton Grade School: Q, I have visited the various departments of the school many S times this term and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate L the students and teachers for the courteous and efficient manner R Q ' in which the school is conducted. XY The regular Class A Elementary Kansas Course of Study has been foLlowed. Much more has been accomplished than to just meet S S the requirments of the school. The grade school music has been up to the high standard X maintained down through the years. Our music supervisor has ' ' .- conducted the music classes and every student has participated in . this work. Many privateh le sons have been given to interested -' X talented students at 'school and a number of students have availed themselves of private lessons in special work outside school. I have noted with pleasure the many partiesand social events of the students patrons and teachers. The students have presented I many programs during the term. Students of the upper grades have is been given a chance to considerfurther school work by observing ,S the work of the students in the advanced grades in high school. h The School Lunch Program has been under the supervision of Ay ' S Miss Jane Hughes, home economics instructor, and Mrs. Bernice 1 Potter. The school lunches have been very fine and those in charge have received many compliments. We hope to continue this program. The Health and Play Program has been carefully supervised by S the teachers. Health and safety of the students are essentially our most important objectives. 1 X Our transportation system is rated by inspectors as the very best. This service has been efficiently rendered by our sincere ' 3 and courteous drivers and the students who cooperate with them. z' I I wish to thank the teachers for their sincere, understanding I sp XX professional serviceg the school lunch people for the wholesome t he Q tasty lunchesg the bus drivers and custodians for their faithful N workg the patrons for their cooperation and the school board for Q their faithful guidance and foresight down through the years for S Q the aiverton Grade School. In January four boys of the first and second grades sang a barter shop quartet number. Ann nilson sang a solo and Pegiy Stringer gave a piano selection. he are looking forward to more good programs in the remaining months of the year. --Peggy Stringer QULEN COIJT1-JS'I' Our Queen contest for the grade school carnival began The candidates of the October lL, l'-A6 and ended Octoher 214. room having the largest amount of money at the time it ended won the contest and became queen of the grade school Carnival. The total amount taxen in from all the roonw was 3o9.08. The winning, room Qthe first and second gradesl had 5.'22.8o. The queen was crowned at the grade school carnival. She and her attendants were seated on a,throne against a background of blue velvet. The queen was Linda Gump. Her attendants were Donna June Nurm, Earbara Jackman, and Jane Garber. The P.T.A. bought flowers for the queen and her attendants to wear in their hair. The crown bearer was Tary Paul Kira and the queen was crowned by Larry Sanborn. --Barbara Jackman FOT L!'N'Tf!E1S This year, September 9, the iiverton Trade School started serving not lunches to all students who uesired a complete meal at the noon hour. The program was run on a non-profit basis. Martha Jane Hughes, Home scononics Instructor, and Urs. Rernice Potter planned the menus. I do not thins we could have any better coons than Hrs. Bernice hotter and Urs. Uella Dodgorny. Later we were aided by Mrs. Maude Livingston and Urs. Werry Saunders. On holidays we had special seasonal menus, and ever: day a nice dessert. he have enjoyed and anpreciated having a few of the high school girls and boys serve us. he are looaing forward to many more pleasant meals in the hot lunch room. --Jane Garber s as Q tx Il. i jsp SA 1.
