MACIO Glee Club 2, 3, 4, Chorus 2, 3, 4, Lyrians 2, 3, 4, Class Play 1, 3, All School Play 2, One-Act play 2, Student Council 4, FFA Officer 4, Electron Prince 1, 3, Football 3, 4, Pep Club Officer 1, 2, Debate 1, 2, Baseball 2. HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1956 When the class of 56 entered high school, thirty-six were enrolled as freshmen. Sponsors were Mrs. Lythene Lambert, Mrs. Anna Russell, and Mr. Wyatt Laughlin. Officers were Isaiah Labor, pres- ident, Franz Stangl, vice president, Bill Wilson, sec- retary, Susie Karsten, treasurer. On September 12, these freshmen were initiated by the seniors. Rep- resentatives of the class were, FFA princess, Susie Karsten, Electron attendants, Gracie Sacchetta and Arnold Macio, Homecoming candidate, Gayle More- land, escort, Larry Tennis, and Sweetheart attendant, Susie Karsten, escorted by Franz Stangl. The first big event was the play The Kid Himself, by Mrs. Lythene Lambert. As sophomores the sponsors were Mrs. Anna Russell, Mr. Wyatt Laughlin, and Johnny Carey. Officers: president, Grace Sacchetta, vice president, Gayle More- land, treasurer, Rachel Osborn, secretary, Bernice Graham, and reporter, Susie Karsten. Favorites this year were: Homecoming candidate, Bernice Graham, escort, Franz Stangl, Electron attendants, Aileen Cruse and Jerry Ferris, sweetheart candidate, Pat Edwards escorted by Franz Stangl, FFA princess, Rachel Osborn. Constitutional convention was attended by Grace Sacchetta and Franz Stangl. Student Council members included Sharon Lee, Grace Sacchetta, and Jack Messer. Susie Karsten held office as treasurer of the band. In the iunior year, sponsors were Miss Agnes C. Stairrett, Mr. Forrest Nelson, and Mr. Arley Culbertson. Class officers: president, Franz Stangl, vice president, Rachel Osborn, secretary, Gayle Moreland, treasurer, Grace Sacchetta. The iunior class play, Grandad Steps Out, by Felicia Metcalfe, directed by Miss Stairrett, was a big event. A banquet with a South Pacific theme was given honoring the seniors. Special activities included: Electron attendants, Rachel Smallwood and Arnold Macio, Homecoming candidate, Susie Karsten, escort, Franz Stangl, sweetheart queen, Sharon Lee, escort, James Wilson. As the senior year began, Miss Agnes C. Stairrett, Mr. Wyatt Laughlin and Mr. Gilbert Arnold were sponsors. Class officers: president, Gayle Moreland, vice president, Gene Bates, secretary, James Wilson, treasurer, Rachel Osborn. Student council members: Grace Sacchetta, president: Gayle Moreland, vice pres- ident, Bill Bro, treasurer, Rachel Smallwood and Arnold Macio, representatives. Honors were given to others as they held office in extra-curricular activities, Franz Stangl, football captain, Arnold Macio, FFA president, Larry Tennis, FFA Secretary, Richard Hibbard, FFA sentinel, Grace Sacchetta, Pep Club president, Gayle Moreland, Pep Club vice president' and Susie Karsten, Peggy Allred, cheer- leaders. More favorites were, Homecoming Queen, Joyce Lyerla, escorts Captain Franz Stangl and co-captain, Larry Tennis, Electron candidates, Rachel Osborn and Larry Tennis, sweetheart attendant, Gayle Moreland. The senior play was, Gran- dad Goes Wild by Felicia Metcalf, directed by Miss Stairrett and Mr. Donald Burr. Twenty-nine of the original freshmen and seven more were among the graduates in May.
