CLASS PROPHBCY On May 17, of the commencement year of the seniors of '49, a gypsy fortune teller wandered into the royal courtyard and offered to foretell the future of this class of Nobles. She revealed to us the status of the members of our class fifteen years hence. This is what she said: Rosemary Stringer is a well-known author. She has just completed her latest book. the sequel to Forever Amber, Always Rosy. Betty Strickland is bookkeeper for the Spencer Chemical Company. According to Betty's latest statement, they are several thousand dollars in the red. Ina Rae McGuire is a successful model in New York City. She specializes in modeling French bathing suits. Max Livingston has just been summoned by the Un-American Activities Com- mittee for operating a crime ring to undermine the General Motors, Inc. Clayton Ingle has just purchased Twentieth Century Fox. He just could not seem to get away from the bright lights and beautiful women. Jearldine Webb has just taken Penny Singleton's place as Blondie on the radio. Robert Willard, Jr., after all these years, is still trying to make up his mind which girl he wants. If he is not careful, he will be a bachelor yet. Betty Baysinger and Joyce Harvey have undergone quite a change since their senior days in Riverton High School. They are now operating an old maids' institution on the island of Mari-Me-Nevr. Harold Dean Mishler is the famous senator from Kansas. He introduced the bill which caused the latest filibuster in Congress. Incidentally the bill is entitled. American Government Should Be Banned in High Schools. Othell Moore is the rip-roaring Western Screen Star with a Kansas fRivertonj accent. currently starring in Daring Exploits of '49. Marian Pickering has just announced her engagement to Robert Taylor, the one from Baxter Springs, of course. Joseph Rea is second in importance in the scientific world to Mr. Einstein. Joe has just completed his latest scientific edition entitled: Women. Patricia Mishler is the new music director at K. S. T. C. Almost all of her students are tall, dark and handsome----men. Joyce Dene Laughlin is a world-known dietician, famous for making fat people thin and thin people fat. Joy's motto is You eat it, and I beat it. Lyle Ballard is a prosperous New York lawyer. He started studying law so he could find a way to get rid of Robert Willard legally. Bill Hall and Clarence Watson are big game hunters in Africa. They began theirfcareers during their high school days at RHS. ' Polly Craig is making a world-wide tour with her musical typewriter. Her special number is still f'Twelfth Street Rag. Wanda Williams is very busy keeping house for her tall, dark, and handsome husband. Wonder what happened to Wanda's nursing career? Rodney Hulvey is the owner of a dude-ranch in Wyoming. His favorite guests are the young women-lages 18 to 25. Treva Nunn has just written an autobiography for Ladies Home Companion entitled How to Get Your Man and Keep Him. Bobby Howard is a big land owner in Western Kansas. He is rolling in the dough. By the way, he is still a bachelor. Edna Coffman is a traveling saleswoman. She is still trying to sell copies of the 1949 Electron. Lloyd Dean Williams is the leader of the famous Western Swing Band, known as Beanie's Bucking Buckaroos. They are now playing in Madison Square Garden. Leonard Hall is a widely known dramatic actor. He is, at present. portraying Romeo at the Metropolitan Opera House. fContinued on Page Eighty? SENIORS CLAYTON INGLE- Click SENIOR CLASS WILL You have been called before this court to hear the reading of the last will and testament of the Seniors of the class of '49, who, being of unsound mind and being mentally insane. have declared it as such. Signed, sealed, published, and declared on the seventeenth day of May. in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine. Richard Porter, will my manly physique to Clark Fleming. Betty Strickland, will my ability to sneak out of seventh hour study hall to Bertha Wade. Rodney Hulvey, will my business-like appearance to Joe Bailey. Rosemary Stringer, will my quiet ways to Doris Vfinfrey. Clarence Watson, leave all my well-worn admits to American govern- ment class to Harold Price: he will probably need them. Joyce Dene Laughlin, will my base viol to Harold Paul, also a high chair donated by the industrial arts class so he can reach it. Jack Watson, will my quiet and demure ways to Aaron Mooney. Marian Pickering, will my cute figure to Dixie McCoy. Joseph Rea, will my scientific brain to Mr. Barkley, to be preserved as an example of the intelligence in the senior class of '49, Patricia Mishler, will my pleasing personality to the sophomore girls. Bobby Howard, will my naturally curly hair to Charles Pigg. Treva Nunn, leave rr.rr,,,rrrrr,.,,r,. ,rr, t o take care of unfinished business. Harold Dean Mishler, leave third hour American government-much to Miss Atkin's relief! Edna Coffman, will my Shadow to a little dark-haired senior at Baxter-with my compliments. Leonard Hall, will my ability to blush to Marion Davies, who could certainly use it. Polly Craig, leave my ability to play Twelfth Street Rag on my typewriter to Rex Baumann. William Hall, leave-correction-left my two front teeth on the Min- eral football Held. Betty Baysinger, will my position as senior class cheerleader to Perry Saunders, Jr. Robert Willard, Jr., will my position in the senior play to anyone who can qualify as an ex-convict. Clayton Ingle, leave my government book to anyone in the junior class. I am through with it. Max Livingston, will the job as senior class president to Maurice Sears. also one bottle of aspirins. Joyce Harvey, will my interest in Galena to Viola Mitchell. That is. if she thinks she can get it. JUNIORS-THE ROYAL SQUIRES On September 2, 1946, thirty-eight green freshmen started out at R.H.S. as Court Jesters. They elected as their leaders, Clifford Hardy, Jr., president: Donald Barr, vice-president: Bobby Joe Lyerla, secretary: and Chester Bilke, treasurer. They chose Mr. Gerald E. Barkley, and Mr. Herbert S. Madaus as their sponsors, Patricia Benton and Maurice Sears were the class princess and prince. The class play was Watch Out for Spooksf' After three months of vacation, forty-two eager sophomores enrolled at R.H.S. for their second year of training. This time they entered as Royal Pages. They chose as their very capable officers David AuBuchon, president: Maurice Sears, vice-president: and Mary Osborn, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Gerald E. Barkley and Mr. Herbert S. Madaus again were chosen as sponsors for this class. Dorothy Youngblood and Charles Pigg were the class princess and the prince. The class play was It's Papa Who Pays. After a much needed rest, thirty-three juniors returned to R.H.S. on September 6, 1948. This time they entered as Squires. The officers for the year were Maurice Sears, president: Donald Barr, vice-president: James Pillar. secretary: and Kenneth Rogers, treasurer. They elected Miss Agnes C. Stair- rett and Mr. Gerald E. Barkley as their sponsors. Mary Ann Hodson and Darwin Haner were the class princess and the prince. The class play, We Shook the Family Tree, was a great success. Members of this class have taken part in many of the musical and athletic activities of R.H.S.
