i or c or Without a doubt, Maroon's Phyllis jones holds the lead as she races around the marker Friday night. For the first time the tug-a-war was a rcal challengefi -Michele Chiaccio Dressed to win, Whiteas Kathie McNally heads for the finish line in the clothes' race during Saturday night's competition. Strategy and Skill Needed During Relays For the second consecutive year, Maroon captured the Sports Trophy for Sports Night, winning three of the four events. ln the first event, basketball, Maroon turned up a 22-12 victory over White, due to the outstanding offensive playing by Pat Crossland, Pam Woodington, and captain Deb- bie Hunter. White came back in volleyball with a score of 2-1, tying Maroon l-1 in events. ln the final event, Maroon won tug-a-war and gymnastics, 2-l, 60.8-55.8 respectively, which gave them the trophy, presented the Saturday of Sports Night. Teams Rally Behind Captains Gehret, Hunter Looking for the best leader on their team, the girls chose Kate Gehret, White captain and Debbie llunter, Maroon captain. Along with her duties as White captain, Kate Cehret was member of the girls, basketball team all four years. As ajunior she was named to the Coaches, All County Second team. Kate was also a member of the GAA, l 'l'A, and llockey team. ln addition to leading the 1975 Maroon Team, Debbie llunter was ' Student Government llomecoming representative and was active in Social Workersygirls basketball and was an AA secretary. t 'illebbie was a great leader and she always kept up the fight? -Carol Fertig Maroon Captain Debbie Hunter portraying an usher, presents a small speech about each act before announcing them. 24 A duentu res While singing the Alma Mater, Captains Kate Gehret and Debbie Hunter, along with their teams, wait anxiously for the final announcement of the winning team. l l , As White Team's Monster Mash is about to begin, Frankenstein Haming it up as much as she can, Senior Debbie Wilkins of the Maroon fLinda Vidovishj creeps up to Kate Gehret to announce Act V. Team gabs Over the phone while singing 'Telephone Hourf, Maroon Takes Win Four Years Straight After weeks of practice and two nights of stiff competition the Maroon Team was victorious by a score of 710-702. Using the theme 'ciiistory of Nloviesn, Maroon, under Debbie Hunter, saluted musicals, while White, led by Kate Gehret, inter- pretive theme as a variety of movies. White Teamis interpretive jazz was Fire', and their theme dance was from the movie Uliawaiiw. Maroon Team's jazz moved to the sounds of Hlixpressw and their theme dance was a can-can. White Dance members do their interpetation of a Hawaiian festival dance, which is from such hit movies as South Pacificw, Hliawaiin, and Mutiny on the Bountyw. Bonnie Borsuk, Kathy Ghegan and Becky Sheets sing their hearts out in their finale starting with There,s No business Like Show Business and ending with the swaying to Everything's Coming Up Roscsfi HThe greatest time in my Freshman year was Sports Night and the White Team made it even more en- joyablef' Jftose Ann Belmondo 'Sports Night was interesting.
