RAM SPIRIT IS IILIVE Since 1930 the students of Riverside High School have been known for their enthusiastic sup- port of all school and community activities. Now, as in the past, spirit at RHS was in continuous motion. The student body showed their Christmas spirit by contributing 32,275 to the BURLINGTON COUNTY TIMES Christmas Fund. Sponsored by RAMPAGE, collec- tions were taken up in homerooms. Through the generosity of RHS, many children had a pleasant holi- day. Another instance when Riverside emptied their pockets for a needy person was for a Burlington Town- ship football player, Sam Murphy, who suffered a severe spinal injury. The money raised helped him de- fray hospital expenses. Although Riverside does not of- fer a girls' softball or lacrosse pro- gram in the spring, females were very much involved in Sports Night. Under advisers Mrs. Barbara jordan and Ms. Chris Thomas, the team members practiced long hours per- fecting their activities. Despite the practices, the sore muscles, and the lost voices, both teams had a substantial number of girls turn out. ln 1975 Sports Night had a ban- ner year. Both teams created fan- tastic themes to the topic History of Movies . Maroon and White completed two evenings of com- petition showing great pride and spirit for their teams. lf spirit was dead, would girls give up their time for Sports Night? Even with the end of Spirit Week, The Student Government and the classes remained active. With Homecoming, fund arsers, prom, and graduation, ther: was never a dull moment aroulwi the school. 1 Sure, the demise of Spirit Week was important. Spirit should not be a one week happening. Spirit should begin in September and con- tinue until june. And isn't that what spirit is all about? 20 Adventures
