CLASS OF 1943: Gentlemen, I read my Bible every day and I recom- mend you to do the same. These were among General Montgomery's final words to his staff before he left for Egypt Captain Rickenbacker and hls men found reading the Bible helpful They read and prayed to God dur1ng those twenty one days when they were 1n peril of their llves on the wastes of the Pacific Ocean Our country 1S better supplled with Bibles than any other nation The trouble 1S that our people do not study the B1ble enough They buy it they respect it but many do not read 1t except when in danger when in sorrow or 1n some other dire experience A Chinese proverb warns us Dig a well before you are thirsty Cultivate tastes and habits that will bring 1oy not only in the present but in the future Provide your own stock of morale with enough to spare for an emergency or for your neighbor then you w1ll always have enough Continue your studies and the development of your m1nd but remember that the fuller life must be alive also to moral and spiritual values MARION BATCHELDER Rum CLASS OF 1943 Ye are the salt of the earth but 1f the salt have lost h1s savour wherewith shall it be salted?
