Class Poem AT GRADUATION As graduation time draws near, We linger over mem'ries dear Of high school days that were well-spent With friends who gave encouragement. Four years have slipped so swiftly by Since we were Freshmen, green and shy, Who tried so hard to learn each rule And find our way around this school. The school was large and we were small, Each Senior seemed so very tall. We had so many stairs to climb o And could real nowhere quite on time By June we all had reached our stride And felt at home in Riverside. We'd been to games, we'd been on dates, We knew our teachers and classmates. But who can stop the fl ight of time? We now were Sophomores in '49, Who though ourselves so very wise And tried to pose and dramatize. A wish for your future, O Classmate, A prayer as we separate: May you reach your goal though you God be with you, wherever you are. 16 Then came a vacation out of season, A five-week coal strike was the reason But we returned to longer sessions, So we could make up all our lessons. At last we reached our Junior year, One day of all stands out most clear, Our class day exercise and dance Gave most of us our first big chance. Now is the year of '52 The time we've spent is almost through, To teachers, friends, and parents dear I We give our thank yous' most sincere. As Seniors who will graduate, Some things we can evaluate: Work well if you would goals attain, Be diligent and knowledge gain.
