HE SENIORS of Riverside High School will soon take their places in the defense of their country and of democracy. The training they have received during the last four years has shown them the value of unity, originality, leadership, and positive action. Training for the responsibility of leadership has been emphasized this year. Many Riverside Seniors have been cited for their outstanding achievements in intramural and interscholastic activities. Honors for highest scholastic achievements were awarded Mary Kubica, Patricia Lapczenski, Lawrence Murphy, and Janet Gervan for averages of 94 and above. Elvira Diehl, josephine Potembska, Irene Saj, Katherine Mowczko, Anna Pasieka, and Grace Graves were chosen for their out- standing athletic ability to represent the school at an interschool confer- ence at the University of Buffalo, on March 28. The Girls' Council and the Boys' Council enjoyed a very successful year under the leader- ship of Presidents Betty Szabo and james Miller. Originality and individual enterprise have been displayed by members of the Senior Class. Earle Williams, president of the school Camera Club, took second prize in the Scientific Section at the Buffalo Museum of Science Photographic contest. An original play was presented on Senior Day under the direction of Albert Sauerwein and Irene Saj. These valuable lessons in democratic ideals will find expression in the future acts of the class of '!i2.
